Hair Weave Killa | Shampoo & Conditoner

#FlashbackFriday  – Good Hair Days

Everyone that knows me knows that I love a good weave. (Weave is an option, not necessity – don’t get it twisted)  I’ve been through a couple of hair stylist here locally trying to find the right one that can not only do a good sewin but also help maintain my natural hair – that’s another blog post in itself.

I’ve been natural for about 2 years now. I mostly wear Sewins with a closure and recently got into braids. Both are great protective styles that give my hair a break from all the heat.

You want to make sure that you wash your weave every 2-3 weeks. I think  (I’m not a professional nor do I claim to be) but I think that one of the most important thing you can do for your weave and that is to treat it like it’s your own hair. I had a couple people tell me about Silicon Mix was a great shampoo for weave and also your natural hair (if you choose to leave some of your natural hair out), but no one mentioned how good the conditioner is.

Before anything make sure you Processed with VSCO with f2 presetbrush through the weave to get out any tangles or kinks in it.

Shampoo – I do three passes through my hair with a handful of the shampoo. You want to make sure you don’t tangle the weave or anything (that’s the worst you can do). After each pass you want to make sure you wash out as much of the shampoo as possible.

Conditioner – I take a heaping handful of the conditioner and rub it through my hair, all the way down to the ends. I use this as a deep conditioner so I will leave it on for about 5-10 minutes. It is a good idea to cover with a plastic shower cap, so as you continue your shower you don’t wash it out by accident. Make sure when you wash the conditioner out you, get all of it out.

Typically, I towel dry my hair and use my blow dryer on low heat to start the drying process so it won’t drip all over the place, then I will let my hair air dry so it’s an all day process. I’ve found that after using the Silicon Mix combination it leaves my weave and natural hair feeling really smooth and the natural curl patterns come right back. It also restores any damages to the hair. It is very inexpensive so it won’t break your pockets.

Let me know if you have any other suggestions on products to use.
