What’s in My Makeup bag?

Makeup has been something I’ve been interested in for as long as I can remember. I can remember growing up and my mom selling Avon and I was always sneaking into the “extras” or her stash.  When my Aunt would come in town and have all her MAC makeup  and she would tell me what each thing was for and then put some on me – it was love at first application. As I got older I went through a couple phases with makeup – dark eyeshadow, unkept/unplucked brows, thick black liner – you name it I did it.

I finally have some GREAT products that give me exactly what I’m looking for.

To start off you should have a primer to get your face ready for whatever you are about to do. I have been using the Smashbox Iconic Photo Finish it helps keeps my makeup in place, even in the sun which is the main reason that purchased it in the first place. Plus it is really light and airy.

As for foundation for the past 3 years I’ve been using Smashbox Studio 15 Hour Hydrating Foundation it doesn’t leave my face feeling like I have on tons and tons of makeup and along with the primer it doesn’t move and it last ALL DAY (15 hours).  As you know, from a recent post  ( catch up here ) that I’ve added NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer because it gives me the coverage that I’m looking for when I’m doing a full face and also on weekends when I just need a little dab here and there and some powder and I’m out the door. Now I will have to admit that I do have another favorite Kat Von D – Lock-It Concealer – I bought it to use an everyday concealer but it worked better as a highlight around my brows. It’s just enough of a highlight and has the ability to cover any OooPs! I make with my brows.

As for my brows I go back and forth between an Elf Studio Eyebrow Kit, Benefits ka-BROW! Cream-Gel Eyebrow Color and Goof Proof Brow Pencil by Benefits. If you are comfortable with doing your brows then I recommend the Elf Kit or the Benefits ka-BROW!, but for beginners the Goof Proof is the one for you – just like the name says it is Goof Proof.

I’m not a big liner person unless I have something fun going on and me personally I’m not good with it – one eye is always thicker than the other. So when I do have the urge to use liner it’s the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. It gives you a precise line and does not need to be shaken like typical liquid liners. The felt tip is no existent – you can’t tell it’s felt many others. It is super pigmented, which is the whole point in wearing liner and it lasts all day.

In a past life of mine, I wore individual lashes and they pulled out my natural lashes so I’ve vowed not to get them anymore – although I’ve seen some that look really good and natural that claim to not pull out your lashes. Until I get the courage to get them done professionally, I’m going to stick to trying to find the perfect mascara. Right now I’m using the Smashbox X-Rated AFTER I’ve used Estee Lauder Lash Primer Plus. The combination of the two gives me enough volume and enough length to give the illusion that I have naturally long luxurious lashes.

Because I need full coverage, I finish my foundation off with the Smashbox HALO Hydrating Perfecting Powder. It gives me enough coverage and it doesn’t fall in any fine lines that I may have.

On a typical day I don’t wear lipstick but if I feel the urge to put some on – NARS Het Loo – Cognac. It blends perfect with my skin tone and doesn’t look over the top at all.

The final finishing touch I go to my guy – Mario Badescu Rose Water – just to give it that finished bright, hydrated look.

These are my typical everyday make up products that I swear by to give me that “oh my goodness you wear makeup” look.  It is also very obvious that Smashbox is one of my favorite products and I HIGHLY recommend it to any and everyone!

Feel free to ask questions and also suggest other products! I’m always willing to help and try out new things!

    1. I’ve never tried Tarte foundation before. I have used a concealer for my brows. I might try them. I sampled Stila yesterday. I’ll check out Tarte – that’s for sharing Ty!
