No matter where I’m going or what I’ll be doing I over pack. It’s a gift and a curse. I feel that I need to have options because plans can change in and instance. Miami was the first trip that I was able to pack everything in one suitcase and my carry on not have shoes, tops or jeans in it.
For me to start the packing process I also go through what I have and what I think will be fitting for the occasion. But I do make list so I won’t forget anything. I tend to take over the guest bedroom when it’s an important trip and I’m triple checking to make sure that I have everything.
To make sure I get everything packed these are a few tips that I keep in mind.
- Check the Weather
- I always check to see what the weather is going to be where I’m going and I always check to see what it is going to be when I return. Nothing worse then going somewhere and not being prepared.
- Make a packing list
- If you are always overthinking the packing process a list helps gets things in an organized way. TripList is a great app that will allow you to make your list and also let you create a to do list for activities that you may want to do.
- Roll, Don’t Fold
- This allows for tighter packing that fits more items into the suitcase. It also cuts down on creases but makes some items into wrinkly messes.
- Pack outfits together
- I always put my outfits together when I am packing them. From the bottoms to the tops even down to the shoes and accessories. This allows me to visualize how it will look and to make sure that I have everything for the outfit. When planning out outfits try to pack things that can be worn with several different outfits.
