What completes your face when you are doing makeup? A gorgeous lip brings it all together – at least for me it does.
It was just three years ago that I really started getting into lipsticks. I was always the lip gloss girl. I think the first time I wore lipstick was Mac’s Ruby Woo – I thought to myself hmm this doesn’t look so bad. So now I love a good red lip on me. Since the nude trend started a few years ago, I was on a major hunt for a nude that was perfect for me.
If you follow me on Snapchat or Instagram then you know that sometimes, I’ll post “lip service” snaps – highlighting my lipsticks for the night.
There are thousands of nude lipsticks for your complexion, trust me I know how difficult it can be to find the right color, so with that being said – I’ve listed a few tips and also showing of my favorites.
Makeup has been something I’ve been interested in for as long as I can remember. I can remember growing up and my mom selling Avon and I was always sneaking into the “extras” or her stash. When my Aunt would come in town and have all her MAC makeup and she would tell me what each thing was for and then put some on me – it was love at first application. As I got older I went through a couple phases with makeup – dark eyeshadow, unkept/unplucked brows, thick black liner – you name it I did it.
I finally have some GREAT products that give me exactly what I’m looking for.
A few weekends ago I had my makeup done at a local beautiful store (Pout) that provides luxury and affordable makeup products. Christi was my makeup artist for the day. When I scheduled the appointment I did ask that she use Smashbox products because y’all know I live by them and their products. During the application she asked me if I wanted to try a different concealer – hesitant but always willing to try something once I went for it. After the process I decided to purchase the concealer that she used – NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer just to see how it holds up compared to the Smashbox Studio Skin 24 hour Waterproof Concealer. I’ve only been using the NARS for two weeks, but it’s a contender in becoming one of my go to products. So continue reading to see what I’ve come up with for both products. Everyone that knows me knows that I love a good weave. (Weave is an option, not necessity – don’t get it twisted) I’ve been through a couple of hair stylist here locally trying to find the right one that can not only do a good sewin but also help maintain my natural hair – that’s another blog post in itself.
I’ve been natural for about 2 years now. I mostly wear Sewins with a closure and recently got into braids. Both are great protective styles that give my hair a break from all the heat.
You want to make sure that you wash your weave every 2-3 weeks. I think (I’m not a professional nor do I claim to be) but I think that one of the most important thing you can do for your weave and that is to treat it like it’s your own hair. I had a couple people tell me about Silicon Mix was a great shampoo for weave and also your natural hair (if you choose to leave some of your natural hair out), but no one mentioned how good the conditioner is.
During the holidays I had a full face custom makeover at Sephora. During the process, the consultant tried new products on me some were added to my makeup bag and others were left at the store. So today I want to share some of the products that I walked away (purchased) – not all the products shown in the pictures were purchased during this makeover.
For a while now I’ve been having these amazingly unattractive dark circles under my eyes. I have discoloration along my cheeks, mostly dark spots from my teenage year of picking at pimples and doing all the wrong things to my face, but that’s a whole different story.
